Returning to Work

Today there are tears
Present moments of uncertainty
For tomorrow’s insecurities
Circling through my mind
Am I teaching my son the right things
Showing him a positive example
Grounding him in a strong foundation
Of values, morals, love, respect
No rule books
Just life’s experiences
Generational cycles spinning on hamster wheels
Can I break them?
Venture a new path?
Keeping the smile on his face as long as I can
My “mommy” brain ponders
Have I spent enough time?
Enjoying his company?
Watching him develop?
Learning who he is becoming?
Doing enough activities?
My heart wrenches at the mere thought of physically leaving him
To fulfill unappreciated roles
Under political war fares called “Education”
But it’s a “job” a “career”
It’s a means of surviving
